Our Fire Solutions
Fire Alarm Systems
A good fire detection and alarm system is vital for protecting your people, assets and buildings. It is important to choose a system that will detect fire quickly, yet not be prone to false alarms. With such a wide variety of fire alarm manufacturers, offering different systems to choose from, it is important to select the right one. Our dedicated and experienced team can advise you on the system that will best suit your requirements. Whether it’s a new installation you need or you would like to upgrade, expand, or replace the system you currently have, we will work with you every step of the way; from design and supply through to installation, commissioning and handover.
Our engineers are also fully trained to carry out maintenance on a wide range of fire alarm systems to BS5839:2017. BS5839 recommends a fire alarm system should be inspected at least every six months. We offer competitive maintenance packages with ongoing support, a 24/7 call out facility and a tailor-made service.
Being highly experienced and trained on a wide range of manufacturers’ systems, our engineers are also capable of undertaking fault investigation works to identify and resolve faults, ensuring your system is fault free. Consequently, we are frequently asked to assist with resolving difficult and longstanding issues that have not been solved by other companies.
DPJ have considerable experience and expertise in the fire industry, are BAFE SP-203 accredited and registered members of the FSA and British Fire Consortium (BFC).
Fire Extinguishers
Fire Extinguishers and Fire Blankets are vital pieces of fire safety equipment and will often be the first line of defence in managing a small fire. The size, type and use of premises will determine the type(s) of extinguishers you will need. Following a survey, we will provide you with our report and recommendations.
It is crucial that your fire extinguishers are serviced and maintained on an annual basis to ensure they are in full working order and ready for use in the event of a fire. We offer annual maintenance and servicing of fire extinguishers; our engineers will carry out all the necessary checks to ensure your fire extinguishers are fit for purpose.
DPJ are members of The British Fire Consortium and a registered member of the FSA.
Gas Suppression
Gas suppression systems are designed for rooms containing items of high value such as server and communication rooms, which would likely be destroyed using water or other firefighting agents to extinguish a fire. The use of gas reduces any damage to these valuable assets, while still providing fire protection.
With our highly experienced team, DPJ can fully support you with protecting these vital rooms and assets.
For each gas suppression system a Room Integrity Test must be carried out; this ensures the room is adequately sealed to prevent any gas leakage should the gas suppression system be activated.
Our multi-skilled engineers can carry out Room Integrity Testing, as well as vital maintenance of your gas suppression systems.
Sprinkler Systems
Sprinkler systems are recognised as an extremely effective method for fighting the spread of a fire in its early stages, consequently minimising injury and damage to assets and property.
There are several types of sprinkler systems and they are specifically designed to suit the purpose of a building. DPJ can assist in choosing the right system for you and our sprinkler specialists ensure all systems are installed and maintained in accordance with the latest standards.
We also specialise in the installation, maintenance and servicing of the following systems:
Dry Riser: A dry riser is an empty pipe that can be externally connected to a pressurised water source by firefighters. It is used to supply water to multiple levels of a building or structure, as part of a fire suppression system.
Wet Riser: A Wet Riser is required where a building reaches over 45 metres in height. It operates in the same way as a Dry Riser, however, the pipe is constantly charged with water and has a water storage tank. To boost the water to over 45 metres, it also has duty and standby pumps.
Fire Hydrants: Fire Hydrants are connection points to enable firefighters to connect to a water supply.
Pump Rooms: Pump rooms provide a mains feed via an electric or diesel pump to ensure continuous water pressure when fighting a fire. They form part of a large sprinkler installation where a mains supply would not be sufficient and water storage tanks are required.
Water Mist System: Mist systems use very fine water sprays to control, suppress or extinguish a fire. There are many advantages of water mist systems, such as immediate activation and reduced water damage.

Fire Fisk Assessments
A Fire Risk Assessment is required by law for any business property or block of flats. It is the duty of the ‘responsible person’ to ensure a Fire Risk Assessment is carried out by a competent person, in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The assessment should provide the foundation of a building’s fire strategy as it identifies the risks in the event of a fire. Fire Risk Assessments should be reviewed regularly and if there are any structural changes to the building or change of use.
DPJ can carry out your Fire Risk Assessment and provide you with a full report on completion. Should there be any areas of concern, our team will provide you with advice on the next steps; along with our recommendations to ensure appropriate and adequate fire safety measures are in place, to minimise the risk of injury or loss of life in the event of a fire.
AOV Systems
AOVs (Automatic Opening Vents), also known as Smoke Vents, are control systems designed to ventilate smoke in the event of a fire, when a call point or detector is triggered. DPJ are highly trained in the design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of a wide range of AOVs. Our expertise has developed over a number of years, providing ventilation solutions for clients across a variety of sectors. We use leading manufacturers to offer our clients the best system for their needs.
As a vital safety system, it is crucial to have your AOV system regularly maintained. DPJ can provide a competitive maintenance schedule to ensure your system is operating correctly.
Fire Dampers
Fire dampers are found within ventilation and air conditioning ducts and are designed to close in the event of a rise in temperature, caused by either heat or smoke. This prevents the spread of fire and smoke.
Fire dampers are crucial life safety systems which require annual maintenance. During a maintenance visit our engineers will inspect, clean, test and service each individual damper to check for correct operation. We will provide a full, detailed report and highlight any faults identified.
PAVA Systems
Public Address and Voice Alarm systems are used to provide clear and concise spoken messages to safely control the evacuation of a building in the event of an emergency. Using a PAVA system to relay a clear and easily understood message in an emergency such as a fire, is likely to alleviate panic and aid the flow and direction of a large number of people, resulting in an efficient evacuation. PAVA systems can also be used for day-to-day all call general messages, zonal broadcasts, pre-recorded messages, broadcast tones and sounds, as well as background music.
DPJ can design, supply, install and commission a PAVA System in your building and our team of multi-skilled engineers can carry out fault finding and maintenance as part of a competitive maintenance package, tailored to the end users’ requirements.
Disabled Refuge
Disabled Refuge Systems (Emergency Voice Communication Systems) are required in all UK non-domestic multi-storey premises. They are essentially safe places where people who cannot easily use fire escapes and evacuation lifts are able to be safe and call for assistance in the event of an emergency. Two-way communication (Refuge system) in these areas is critical in protecting life in emergency situations. As well as assisting with the evacuation of disabled or mobility impaired people, they can also be used to enhance firefighters’ communication during an emergency.
As a disabled refuge system is not just for use during a fire, it must be fully functional at all times. It is essential these systems are checked regularly for functionality to ensure correct operation.
DPJ can supply, install and commission a Disabled Refuge System in your building and our team of multi skilled engineers can carry out maintenance and servicing as part of a competitive maintenance package, tailored for you.
